Photo album scanning · Perth
Most families have a stack of albums in a cupboard, holding every birthday, holiday and wedding from the last fifty years. Albums are also one of the worst places to keep photos long term: sticky pages yellow, glue stains prints and plastic traps moisture. Our photo album scanning service digitises your albums by hand in Perth, one photo at a time, so the whole family can share them.
$289 collection management fee, plus $3.80 to $2.98 a photo, including GST. Every photo is counted and scanned separately.
Handled by hand
Every album is handled by hand in Perth, and nothing is sent offshore.
Album order kept
Files are numbered by album and page, so your collection reads like the original.
Sticky albums welcome
Magnetic and sticky albums from the 1970s to the 1990s are what we see most.
Australia-wide
Post your albums from anywhere in Australia, or arrange a hand-over in Perth.
There are two ways to digitise an album, and we choose the safer one for each photo. Either way, each photo is scanned and priced as its own image.
Where a photo lifts away easily, we take it out, scan it on its own without the plastic film over it, and put it back in the same place. This gives the best result.
If a photo is stuck down, or lifting it could tear or crease it, we leave it where it is and scan it on the page, still as its own image.
We never force a photo off a page. Every photo we lift out goes back in the same place, so your album comes home the way it arrived.
1
First, tell us how many albums you have and roughly how many photos are in them. A photo of a typical page helps.
2
Next, post them tracked, or contact us to arrange a hand-over in Perth.
3
Then each photo is handled by hand, scanned on its own and checked before it is filed in album order.
4
Finally, download your files from Dropbox, and your albums come back as they arrived.
$289 collection management fee per order. This covers intake, checking and preparing your albums, setting up and colour profiling the scanner, quality review, and safe handling and return of your originals. Then each photo is priced by the size of your order.

Loose photos
Tucked into the back
Magnetic albums are hard on photos. The adhesive yellows with age, can stain the back of a print and slowly grips it harder. The plastic film can also stick to the photo surface.
Please don’t try to peel stuck photos off at home with a knife, dental floss or heat. If a photo won’t come away easily, leave it on the page. It can still be scanned.
Digitise first, then decide whether to move the prints into an archival album. If your albums have been wet, read our guide to water damaged photos before you send them.
How much does photo album scanning cost?
A $289 collection management fee per order, plus $3.80 to $2.98 a photo, including GST. For example, an album of 200 photos is $289 plus 200 at $3.25, which is $939.
What is the best way to scan photo albums?
Take out photos that lift away easily and scan each one flat, without the plastic film. Leave stuck photos on the page and scan them where they are. Never force a photo off a sticky album page.
Can you scan photos without taking them out of the album?
Yes. If a photo is stuck down or fragile, we leave it on the page and scan it there, still as its own image, so it is priced the same as any other photo.
Should I take photos out of magnetic albums?
Only if they come away easily. The adhesive in old magnetic albums grips harder over time, and forcing a photo can tear or crease it. Digitise first, then decide about re-housing the prints.
Will my albums come back the same way?
Yes. Every photo we lift out goes back in the same place, and your files are numbered by album and page in the same order.
Can you scan captions and the backs of photos?
Yes, on request. Each caption or written back counts as one photo, and it is saved next to its photo, so names and dates stay with the faces.
Can I post my albums to you?
Yes, from anywhere in Australia. Wrap each album in bubble wrap or a towel, pack it snugly in a sturdy box, and send it tracked.
Can I hand my albums over in Perth?
Yes. Get in touch first, and once we have talked about your albums we will arrange a hand-over that suits you.
Send us a rough count of your albums and photos, and a photo of a typical page. We will tell you what it will cost before you commit.
